My okra are flowering but most fruits are drying off after the flower falls and not producing fruit. Why?

Most of the flowers are beautiful but many fruits just brown and dry away after the flower falls (or doesn't even fall!) I have just got 4-5 okras from 10-12 flowers. What is happening?

Okra is similar to tomatoes and peppers in that they produce better when night time temperatures and rainfall amounts are within their ideal (but I do not remember what those ideals are). Otherwise, the fruit will not form well even though it flowers.

Perhaps wait for a few weeks to see if it is just not quite the right conditions yet (they sometimes start flowering before they really produce).

Also, try limiting the number of blooms (which means you need to plant more) per plant by pinching some off.
Reply:Blight or wilt due to too much rain or crops not being rotated. No cure.
Reply:Has it rained alot, rain will kill the flower, and the flower is the okra, the flower should not fall off, it should turn into the okra. Also cut the okra off when they are about 2" long, sometimes this will help the plant to produce.
Reply:Okra cannot be planted until the soil is 90 degrees. So says my gardening guru uncle.genealogy mormon
