What is the best flower to plant???

I have a spot in the front of my yard that gets full sun probably for 8 or so hrs out of the day..me and my mother have tried to plant flowers there 3 different times..even with watering them they still always seem to die..were guessing the ones we get just cant handle the sun but they say full sun on most of them yet they always die..bricks surround the entire flower bed as well as right behind the flower bed is bricks surrounding bushes not sure if any of that could cause flowers not to live but thought I would add it in..thanks for any input.

Reply:What is the flower you are unsuccessful at? If it is a vinca or periwinkle, These are same flower. They do not like water on their leaves and will develop a fungus which will kill them and prevent future planting of this type as well. Zinnias do not like water on their leaves either.
Reply:Where do you live? What are the indigineous plants in your area that you like--go to a nursery and ask them and tell them you need a plant that can take 8 hours of sun. Also what type of soil do you have in your garden, maybe it is just not good soil and you need to add some amendments. Are you killing plants with too much water? Are they seedlings or full grown plants? Do you plant the new ones in the full sun or do you wait for evening or even better a cloudy day? So many arbitraries. Take a good scientific look and see answers appear or maybe you need an herbal exorcist.

Reply:when you buy flowers they usually have a info card stuck in the pot with the flower. read those and they will tell you what type of flower they are. Full sun Partial sun, Shade etc.

It will also tell you how the soil needs to be. should it be dry, kept moist and so on.

There are plenty of reasons your flowers could be dying it could be they are not full sun you could be watering too much.

Also it is good to use a kick starter plant food that helps the plant ease through the shock of transpantation. miriacle grow makes a good one.
Reply:It's your choice. I' m not an expert but I suggest marigolds. Since it is in the sun water it a lot.
Reply:I don't know what part of the world u live --- but - I would suggest a simple "Butterfly Bush". They thrive in full sun, come back year after year- don't mind poor soil- tollerate dry bouts... can be trimmed back - resprouts- no trouble... they come in several colors... butterflys and hummingbird love em' in NJ area. Flowers bright all summer.yahoo finance
