Flower Food?

I have a rose at the moment, and I really don't want it to die. At the same time, I don't want to have to go to the store to buy flower food (unless it's my only option.)

Is there anything I could use around the house or something to keep it alive?

Any ingredient to make flower food for the rose?

I heard cold water might do, but it's not exactly helping. It's still living, but slowly dying.
Flower Food?
Is this a cut rose?, if so cut the stem diagonally and place it on a water vase, don't use cold water, it will ruin the rose, if the rose is planted just keep watering it and avoid low temperatures..☺
Reply:the easiest is to place lipton tea bags (new or used) on the soil around the flowers and cover it with leafs.
Reply:you shld feed it fertilisers like cow dung or dung and.
Reply:used coffee grounds. use 4 parts water to 1 part coffee and, pour to roots.
Reply:Never put a cut rose in cold water.Matter of fact never use cold water on any plants. They don't like it.Put half an asprin, and a little sugar in the vase, and every-day trim a little off the bottom of the rose, mine has lasted two weeks that way.
Reply:If the rose is planted in the ground: coffee grounds, tea bags, egg shells, mulch with leaves.

If the rose is in a pot: Miracle gro

If the rose is cut and in a vase, it may last a week.
Reply:Others have made good suggestions; especially raynwater.

Old bananas or banana peels are especially good placed at the base of a rose; they appreciate the potasium. I also put a small amount of ash from my fireplace around their base. And, I plant garlic in the vicinity to ward off bugs.

One can make Manure Tea as fertilizer: Use cow, horse or chicken manure, placed in a cloth bag; Submerge the bag in water [I use 5-gallon bucket], let

stand for a day or two, during which time the manure will steep, making Manure Tea!

I hope you weren't referring to a cut rose stem....
Reply:i agree: nix the cold water- room temp is always good. make sure the bottom of the stem is cut at an angle. sugar/aspirin as suggested is ok; sprite/H2O; a birth control pill, even. all these have proven to be affective. change the water at least every 2 days. oh! if you use the BC pill, keep your count!hairstyles hair style
