Flower identification???

I work in a flower shop and take care of the shop; sweep, clean, the deal. But sometimes customers ask me the kinds of flowers they want, and I don't know the answers. Does someone know of or have a link to a place where I can get really big poster that indentifies flowers?? Like, a really big, official poster that can be used for reference.

Also, find a book or website of common flower shop flowers and try to learn them yourself!
Reply:If you can't find a poster, go to the library and check out some books. You'll be able to identify most flowers in no time!
Reply:Don't worry about a poster. Every few days, when the flower shipments come in, ask a designer, or ask the owner, if you can help unpack them, or if they will take you through the cooler and identify each new flower type. The owner will be impressed with your desire to learn. The designers will be honored that you asked to be their pupil. Both will be happy you volunteered to help them do a a task they consider boring.
Reply:Try the bookstore or try to find some flower hobby shops and gain more info from hobbyists. Or talk to your boss. I think he/she knows the flowers that he/she is selling.
Reply:Try to go to a "school teachers" store. I am not sure where you are from, but in Canada we have a store called Mastermind, and it sells supplys and items to teachers.

That may be your best try, and if they don't sell it, or have it, they may be able to direct you to some group that can.

You may also want to try some conservation area, if you have one around your home...like a park or zoo they may have either posters or placemats.

Good luck, and if people ask you what kind of flowers THEY want...tell them your favourites.

Reply:Most growers and distributors in the floral industry offer promotional materials to their customers. Ask the owner if these items might be available to you. Contact companies that serve the florists and request a copy of items that might promote their products. Ask questions! Most business persons would welcome an employee's desire to learn the trade and make sure that you have access to anything that would promote that knowledge. You may even find that your employer has lots of promotional material tucked in desk drawers that they would gladly give you . If your shop is part of the FTD network, there are likely large books with photographs and descriptions of the arrangements on hand. Good luck- I hope your interest may be the beginning of a budding career!
Reply:no. i don't think so
