What color flower corsage to go with apple green colored dress with black accents?

My daughter picked out a prom dress. But I think it's going to be hard for her date to select a flower color. The dress is a Jessica McClintock and is apple green, satin fabric with satin black trim at the bodice %26amp; waistline. She's probably going with black shoes and jewelry.


Would different jewelry allow for more flower selections?





She wants to wear her hair up %26amp; maybe with a flower. What color and types of flowers could she use that would go with this color of dress?

Ok - for the sake of being equally graphic, I'll send you to a color wheel site.





The exact opposite color of that apple green dress would be a soft red-violet or lavender colored flower. Opposite colors vibrate off one another and seem to be brighter.





Red is the opposite of true green, but red may be a bit much.





With that fresh green color - deep yellows would be beautiful.





Remaining in a similar color family, light to moderate blues would also be beautiful.





White roses and carnations that have their stems freshly cut - then put into water that has food coloring in it will draw the color into themselves and turn the color of the food colored water. He could get roses or carnations "dyed" to the color of her dress that are trimmed with VERY THIN black ribbon accents and baby's breath.





Flowers the color of the dress would allow for the jewelry to be the focus. Flowers the exact opposite of the color of the dress will make themselves the focus. Flowers that are to the right or left of the apple green on the color wheel will simply compliment the dress.

Reply:White or pale pink flower would do fine. It would neutralize the apple green and black colors, which are actually dark for young girls to wear.





Diamond jewelry (esp. the necklace, whether genuine or imitation is fine) would be suitable for accent.





I think your daughter has a sophisticated taste, and she will carry it well at her prom.
Reply:I would pair the dress up with silver jewelry and then choose a simple single white flower for her hair, an orchid perhaps, elegant and simple. Then maybe an orchid with a modest amount of greens as a wrist corsage....

The dress sounds beautiful. I'd recommend taking a swatch, or the dress to the florist and letting them help you decide. I think a nice white rose/carnation could be perfect with silk ribbons in apple green (the florist sometimes can dye the ribbon to match the dress) black, and a clear, glittery color to go along with the corsage.





She'll look beautiful, I'm sure, no matter what you choose.
Reply:I would wear a headband since there so popular now. You could doyour hair with a tiara diamond headband or maybe just black velvet or black patent leather. Flowers in the hair just save that for your sisters wedding. Now a corsage would have to be white tiny baby roses with the same fabric that shows beneath your green dress. Remember think Audrey Hepburn in "Breakfast at Tiffany,s" less is more.

A pale lilac flower nestled partly amidst the typical fine netting in as close a color of apple green as possible, along with small black satan ribbons nearing the bottom of a hand-held corsage. If "pin on" situate the corsage so that the black ribbons are hanging downward and not in front of his beautiful wife's face.

Reply:I would not go with a pale pink (it will look too Eastery) but rather a fuchsia colored flower mixed with some refreshing white baby's breath. I would choose a rose, carpet roses, baby roses or your standard rose. Since roses come in a variety, it would be pretty to have a selection of standard fuchsia roses with white baby roses surrounding them.
